M.C.C. TOUR OF WEST INDIES (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 25. The M.C.C. to-day announced the names of 13 players who have been invited to tour the West Indies in the coming season. They are: G. O. Allen (captain and manager), W. J. Edrich, and J. Robertson (all of Middlesex), K. Cranston (Lancashire). S. C. Griffith (Sussex), T. E. Bailey (Essex), T. G. Evans (Kent), H. J. Butler (Nottinghamshire), W. Place and J. T. Ikin (Lancashire), T. Ho worth (Worcestershire), G. A. Smithson (Yorkshire), and D. Brookes (Northamptonshire). OLD COLLEGIANS’ CLUB A report from a special sub-committee on the possibility of the club’s moving to Elmwood Park was discussed at the annual meeting of the Christ's College Old Boys’ Cricket Club last evening. Mr P. H. T. Alpers, for the sub-committee, said that an Air Force hut suitable for conversion into a pavilion had been bought. The hut was at present at Ashburton, but plans for its conversion and installation in the north-west corner of Elmwood Park had been approved by the Christchurch City Council.
The two wickets at the w£st end of the park would probably be allotted to the club. Waikari soil was being obtained for top-dressing with the assistance of the council. The Lancaster Park groundsman. Mr T. Hallam, considered that a wicket of senior standard could be prepared on the park.
The club would have to engage a parttime groundsman to assist the council’s permanent man, said Mr Alpers. This had proved a stumbling-block, and unless a suitable man could be found, it was doubtful whether the club would be able to move this season.
Officers were elected as follows: — patron, Mr R. J. Richards; president, Mr E. G. Pidgeon; vice-presidents, Messrs W. W. Dunkley, T. W. C. Tothill, and C. G. F. C. Hamilton; club captain, Mr N. L.
