The feature of the Lorjnfcville sale today was the season’s record price of £52 5s for a Friesian bullock sold on account of the estate of the late Mr W. G. Thomason, Thompson’s Crossing. Prices generally were firm on those ruling last week, although medium classes in the fat sheep section were easier. The full yarding of fat sheep was made up of a bigger percentage of ewes than at recent sales, ahd some extra good wethers. The ewes were keenly sought after and realised values fully as good as any of the season. Really good quality wethers and light-weights maintained recent rates, but medium wethers were a little easier. Good quality heavy-weight Wethers made 54s to 68s 9d, good quality mediumweights 58s to 625, handy-weights 52s to 565, light-weights 45s to 48s, unfinished. 38s to 425, good quality young ewes 47s to 48s 6d, medium quality butchers’ ewes 43s 6d to 455, lighter weights 38s to 425, unfinished 30s to 345.

The entry in the fat cattle section was not big, but quality was good. Competition was exceptionally keen and values were fully up to, and in some cases better than, those of the last; .sale. ASHBURTON Values were firm at late rates at the Ashburton stock sale yesterday. There was an average yarding. Ewes realised up to 31s for lightweights, from 33s to 36s 6d for mediumweights, from 37s to 41s 6d for prime quality, and from 42s to 46s 7d for extra prime quality. A line of four sheep sold on account of a client topped the ex£e market. W. Lister (Ashburton) sold five at 44s lOd.

Wethers made up to 32s 7d for light and unfinished sorts, from 38s to 41s for medium quality, from 42s to 45s 6d for

prime quality, and from 46s to 50s Id for extra prime quality. In the store sheep section, 171 ewes sold at 425, 127 ewes at 435, 94 two-tooth ewes at 375, 50 wethex' hoggets at 21s 6d, 89 ewe hoggets at 30s Id, and 107 s.m, ewer at 22s 7d. Fifty-six ewe lambs realised 31s 9d. A. R. G. Donaldson (Elgin) sold one Jersey cow at £l3, one Jersey heifer at £l2 10s, and one cow at £ll 10s. RANGIORA There were improved yardings in au sections at the weekly Rangiora stock market yesterday.
