STORAGE OF CHILLED EGGS
CHRISTCHURCH QUOTA 60.000 DOZEN This season the Internal Marketing Division expects to place 279.700 dozen chilled eggs in cool storage, compared with 253.940 dozen last season. The target aimed at for Christchurch is 60.000 dozen, which is 12,750 dozen more than last season. In his report for the six months ended September 30. 1946. the Internal Marketing Division’s director (Mr R. P. Fraser) says the division is continuing its programme of taking off the market quantities of eggs during the flush production period and making them available as chilled eggs during; the winter months. In some quarters consumers are suspicious of chilled eggs, but the division is confident thati by placing a good quality commodity on 1 the market prejudices will eventually, be removed and that the buying public will, with confidence, purchase chilled eggs in the winter months to supplement the supplies that l are available at tha. time.
