IMMIGRANTS’ COMPLAINTS
Sir, —The indignation inspired by Mrs Pitcher’s recent remarks shows that we do need criticism to balance our ideas of ourselves a little. In our particular household both Mrs Pitcher and the criticism created mirth, culminating in the following limerick on the subject, which I quote: There was an old lady called Pitcher, Who came to N.Z. to get richer. The things that she called us Not only galled us. But urged us to feather and pitch her. —Yours, etc., R.E.B. August 25, 1947.
