THREE CHILDREN KILLED

SLASHED IN HOME AT SYDNEY FATHER AND DAUGHTER FOUND WOUNDED (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 25. In a cottage in the suburb of Hurstville to-day, three children were slashed to death. Neighbours found a fourth child and the father bleeding from wounds in the throat. Both are in a serious condition, but are expected to live. The man is Edmund Arnold, who was living with his wife and four children, aged seven, five, three, and one year respectively. After Mrs Arnold had run into the street screaming, neighbours found Arnold unconscious on a back veranda. A bloodstained carving knife was nearby. The baby lay in a cot, apparently having been killed while sleeping. The body of the three-year-old daughter was in a half-filled bath. Dying face down in a lounge room, amid broken toys, was the body of the eldest daughter. The five-year-old daughter was found in bed in a front room, and was rushed to hospital with the father.
