The Egyptian Finance Minister (Abdel Badr Pasha) said that he had asked the Egyptian Ambassador in London (Abdel Fattah Amr Pasha) to tell the British Government that Egypt between August-24 and October 31 should be allowed to . convert £2,500,000 into dollars, instead of £1,500,000, which Britain had authorised. The Ambassador had been instructed to state that Egypt’s undetermined dollar needs from October 31 to December 31 should be met in accordance with the recent agreement on Egypt’s sterling balances authorising the conversion of £20,000,000 to December ‘3l.
