Commander Morgan Slayton, United States Navy, who has been Naval Attache in - New Zealand since October, 1946, has been appointed assistant Senior Naval Attache and assistant. Naval Attache for Air in China, and will be stationed in Shanghai. He will leave by air for Honolulu on September 16 on his way to China.—(P.A.) Sir Carrick Robertson, of Auckland, has been elected an honorary fellow of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. The association has a comparatively small membership elected from eminent members of the profession in Britain. This year five honorary fellows have been elected. They are Professor Leriche, of Lyons, France, Dr. Dazy of France, Dr. Verhoogen, of Belgium, Professor Harold Dew, of Sydney University, and Sir Carrick Robertson.

The Ensom Prize for an essay for the promotion of international peace was awarded to Mr R. H. Gould by the Canterbury University College Council yesterday afternoon.
