MOUNT ALBERT BY-ELECTION
NATIONAL PARTY NOMINEES “ The Press " Special Service AUCKLAND, August 22. The names of five nominees for the National Party candidate in the Mount Albert by-election had been received when nominations closed to-day. They were:—Miss Joan Rattray, a member of the Auckland City Council and the Metropolitan Youth Council; Mr C. J. Garland, a former member of the City Council and a candidate for the council at the next municipal elections; Mr F. L. A. Gotz, National Party candidate for Auckland Central at the last General Election; Mr A. T. Dow, secretary of the Auckland Provincial School Committees* Association and a former member of the Mount Eden Borough Council; and Mr P. C. Fisher, of Hamilton, a former Air Force officer who served in Britain. The nominations will go to the Dominion council of the party for approval, and the candidate will be selected at a meeting of party members on September 1.
