FORMATION OF PONY CLUB
CHRISTCHURCH PROPOSAL At a meeting of citizens interested m the formation of a pony club in Christchurch, which was convened by Mr G. F. Hutton last Wednesday, it was decided to hold an inaugural meeting on August 26, and to go ahead with the formation of the club if enough support were forthcoming. Mr W. Holmes explained yesterday that the club would cater for younger children especially, and would organise paper chases, picnics, and gymkhanas in the same way as the nine other New Zealand clubs. The Southland Pony Club, he said, had its own horses and stables. The movement had originated m England during the war when no shows were being held. Each county and shire was divided into zones, and each zone had ifs pony club. All the clubs were affiliated to a parent association.
