DUTCH “POLICE ACTION”
CESSATION POSSIBLE AT ANY TIME (Rec. 10 p.m.) BATAVIA, August 2. Netherlands “police action” in Java and Sumatra could be stopped at any time, if he were instructed by the Dutch Government to do so, the Lieu-tenant-Governor of the Netherlands East Indies (Dr. H. J. Van Mook) told the A.A.P.-Reuter correspondent in Batavia to-day, when he referred to the Indonesian debate in the Security Council. “I do not know that the same could be done on the other side, for after all they have not stoppe.d since October 14, 1946, the date of our truce agreement,” he added.
