AUSTRALIAN HURDLES WON BY THE FELINE

The Australian Hurdle Race of £l5OO, run over two miles five furlongs and 65 yards at Caulfield to-day, resulted:—THE FELINE 9-12 Godfrey 1; Boondale 10-0 Morley 2; Repeated 9-4 Rhimes 3. Thirteen started. Won by three-quar-ters of a length; four lengths. Time, 4min 55sec. LUCKY ROBIN WINS IN SYDNEY (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m. ) SYDNEY, August 3. In his third start in Australia,’ the New Zealand-bred gelding. Lucky Robin, walked away from the opposition in the mile and a half Mixed Stakes at Rosehill yesterday to win by five lengths. After two unplaced performances in New Zealand, Lucky Robin finished fast into third place in a mile race at Newcastle, and won by two lengths over 10 furlongs at his two previous starts in Australia. A four-year-old half-brother to a good class New Zealand sprinting mare, Salutation, Lucky Robin is now regarded as Sydney’s most promising young stayer. The Neptune colt Karachi, not to be confused with the New Zealander racing here as King Karachi, won the First Mixed Stakes by a long head, and will have his next start against the champion youngster, Temeraire, in the Hobartville Stakes. He has won only two races in restricted company, and his trainer. Maurice McCarten, is running him against the best with an eye to the Derbys. During the week the former New Zealander, Frontal Attack, was sold to Mr Eliot Randall, and will be trained by Gordon Ray. He was sold to Mr G. A. Frank at the dispersal sale of Mr Alec Higgins’s horses last season.
