Presentation for Boys
A presentation to three boys whose alertness resulted in the arrest of two Australian pickpockets on the Nelson racecourse will be made by the Nelson Jockey Club. The three boys. Richard Kerridge, Alasdair Clark, and Anthony Clark. accompanied their parents to a race meeting on the course on April 19. They detected the pickpockets and, after watching them for some time, reported them to the police. One of the men pleaded guilty to the charges arising from the boys’ information, and the other was found guilty in the Supreme Court at Nelson, where the boys gave evidence. They were congratulated by Mr Justice Cornish on their keen observation The pickpockets are now serving a term of 21 months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
