MURDER AT ONE TREE HILL

WOMAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 2. An Auckland woman was arrested to-day and charged with the murder of Mrs Gladys Rusden at One Tree Hill on June 5. She was Mrs Pansy Louise Frances Haskell, aged 42. She lived with her husband at 11 Bollard avenue, New Lynn.

Before her marriage, about July 10, her name was Mrs Frost.

The arrest was made by Senior-De-tective Kearney and Detective-Ser-geant W. Fell, who have been engaged exclusively in the investigation of the case.

A car arrived with the police party at Mrs Haskell’s home, and a detective left carrying a suitcase. A few minutes later Mrs Haskell entered the car, and was driven to the Central Police Station, where she was charged with the murder of Mrs Rusden.

It is not expected that she will appear in the Magistrate’s Court before Monday morning, when the police will Fsk for a remand.

The murder of Mrs Rusden, aged 47. whose body was found in a pool of blood in the kitchenette of her home at Horotutu road. One Tree Hill, about 5.30 p.m. on June 5. was one of the most baffling mysteries investigated by the Auckland police.

The crime was discovered by the victim’s husband, Richard Alfred Rusden. when he returned from work at the Waitemata Brewery at Otahuhu. Mrs Rusden had been struck on the head.
