ALBERTSON AND WHITFORD IN FORM

The second round of the Canterbury amateur billiards championship was concluded this week. In his game with J. Munro. A. Albertson proved superior, his score of 500 including two fine breaks of 89 and 121. R. Whitford followed up his win in the first round by disposing of G. McGregor. He made a further century, supported by 57 and 44 unfinished. The results are as follows:—G. McGregor (Richmond) 500 (41. 45) beat G. R. Giles (W.M.C.) 447 (43); A. Albertson (Lyttelton) 500 (89, 121) beat J. Munro (A.A.C.) 339; R. Whitford (A.A.C.) 500 (103, 57. 44 unfinished) beat G. McGregor (Richmond) 326; W Smith (R.S.A.) 500 (55, 60. 75) beat A. Maloney (W.M.C.) 235; V. Choat (W.M.C.) 500 beat H. McLean (R.S.A.) 345 (47). In the semi-finals A. Albertson plays V. Choat on Monday. August 4. and W. Smith plays R. Whitford on Tuesday. August 5. The final (two) sessions will be played on Wednesday and Thursday. CANTERBURY TEAM SELECTED The following team has been selected to represent the Canterbury Amateur Billiards Association in the New Zealand championships which will be held at Auckland this year, beginning on August 25:—A. Albertson, W. Smith, V. Choat, A. Innes, and A Twohill.
