SERVICEMEN’S HOMES

Sir, —In Tuesday’s issue you reported the protest of tne executive of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association against the actions of some builders seeking work, for which no rehabilitation loans would be accepted. ’•! would recommend Mr H. E. Batchelor (vice-president of the association) that he should make further inquiries, and that in cases where the builders will not accept rehabilitation loans, no further rehabilitation contracts should be accepted from them. Again, further inquiries should be instituted regarding the action of some inspectors inspecting properties being erected under rehabilitation loans, who are not compelling builders to complete their work in accordance with specifications and conditions laid down by tneir department, thereby involving the returned serviceman in further expense and in some cases litigation.—Yours, etc. RETURNED SERVICEMAN. July 25, 1947. [The district Rehabilitation • officer (Mr J. Moore) had no comment to make when this letter was referred to him.]
