4 RESIGNATION OF MR A. G. WILLIAMS The resignation o£ the secretary, Mr A. G. Williams, has been received by the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee. He is secretary of a number of unions, including the Printers’ Union. With the municipal elections being held in November, the committee faces another busy time and Mr Williams resigned so that his successor would have several months in office before the election. Although Mr John Roberts, the chairman of the L.R.C. and also of. the Trades Council, is proposing a visit to England early next year, it is certain that he will be granted leave of absence and will not need to resign. Mr Roberts, who will be accompanied by Mrs Roberts, has made tentative arrangements to leave New Zealand at the end of January, and will be away for eight months. He was visiting England after attending the International Labour Office conference when the World War broke out in 1939. - 1 £
