FIELD-MARSHAL MONTGOMERY
Call On King Koroki To-day BIG PROGRAMME AT ROTORUA “The Press” Special Service ROTORUA. July 28. Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery will spend half an hour with King Koroki. the Maori King, when he passes through Ngaruawahia on his ■way to Auckland from Hamilton tomorrow’ afternoon. Because Field-Marshal Montgomery needs some relaxation from the accumulated strain of his arduous programme, plans for his Auckland visit have been slightly amended. His first engagement on Wednesday will not be until 10 a.m., when he will meet members of the Returned Services’ Association. He will then return to his hotel until the civic reception early in the afternoon. He had a full day at Rotorua to-day, visiting the soldiers’ convalescent hospital in the mom ng, attending a civic reception at noon, and receiving a Maori welcome at Tam?tekanua meet-ing-house in the afternoon, after which he attended a Returned Services’ Association gathering. A clock with a wooden case carved in a Maori design by a clergyman was presented by the Mayor of Rotorua on behalf of citizens. Patients at the servicemen’s convalescent hospital made Field-Marshal Montgomery a gift of a travelling case. Field-Marshal Montgomery will leave for Hamilton to-morrow morning, After a civic reception at Hamilton he will have luncheon with the Waikato Returned Services’ Association. On his arrival at Auckland he will visit the Middlemore and Green Lane Hospitals.
