PLUNKET SOCIETY IN LYTTELTON
EXPANSION DURING YEAR The work of the Plunket Society in the Lyttelton district has developed considerably during the year, stated the report presented at the twentylourth annual meeting of the branch on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance, and the DeputyMayor (Mr F. H. Heal) presided. Those present included Mrs B. H. Gilmour, president of the Christchurch branch, and representatives from Diamond Harbour, Heathcote, and Governors Bay. The report said that Nurse Goode had explored new avenues of service. Regular visits were now made to Port Levy, Governor’s Bay, and Godley Head, in addition to Diamond Harbour and Heathcote. The following figures were given:—new baby cases, 75; visits of babies to rooms, 1703; nurse’s visits to homes. 342; pre-school children, 202; consultations with adults, 1856. During the year long service certificates were presented to the following members: —Mesdames E. Wilson (23 years), H. A. Rhind (22 years), F. E. Sutton (20 years), J. Hendry (19 years).
Officers were elected as follows: — patron, Mrs H. R. Smith; president, Mrs A. E. Chrisp; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. T. Lester, T. A. Mahar, T. Firmin, J. Preston, and V. Bloom; committee, Mesdames S. E. Buchanan, L. Comer, A. Gardiner, E. H. Green, D. Souter. P. A. M. Heath, L. G. Matthews, J. Plimmer. J. Tait, G. C. Taylor, J. Waring. F. S. H. Warner. D. S. Woods, H. Collier (Heathcote), C. Paine (Diamond Harbour); executive committee, Mesdames Chrisp, Comer, O. Elder, Mahar, Matthews, Warner, Misses J. Mills ,and B. Green; secretary, Miss Green; treasurer. Miss Mills; auditor, Mr G. C. Taylor; advisory board, Drs. C. H. Upham and P. A. M. Heath, Messrs W. T. Lester. J. Carson, T. A, Mahar, L. G. Matthews, J.
