VISIT OF OLD VIC COMPANY

ARRIVAL IN NEW ZEALAND NEXT YEAR

Early next year Sir Laurence Olivier will bring a company of Old Vic players to Australia and New Zealand, according to a cable message from London. Sir Laurence Olivier is at present producing a film version of “Hamlet,” and an informant in the North Island told “The Press” last evening that if the film was finished the company would leave England in February.

There was, however, the possibility that another severe winter in England, if it produced power cuts, might hinder the completion of the film. The company, it was stated, would visit New Zealand before going to Australia, and the tour would be sponsored by the British Council, in the same way as the present tour of the Boyd Neel Orchestra was being conducted.
