OFFICIAL FORECASTS “ The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON. July 27. The weather forecast tor Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m., by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is %s follows: Situation: there is a shallow depression south-east of the South Island, and a ridge of "high pressure over the Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate south* to south-west winds. Weather fair inland, with scattered showers near the coast, and improving from the south. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate winds from a southerly quarter. Weather fair, but cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was overcast and Showery, with a moderate south-west Wind. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was overcast, and there was no wind. The barometer, steady, registered 29.87 in (1011.5 millibars). Meteorological observations taken at the Magnetic Observatory, Christchurch, on Sundav. Julv 27:
