TO VISIT JAPAN
DELEGATION FROM CANADA
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, July 24. At the invitation of the Supreme Commander (General MacArthur), General H. D. Crerar, who commanded the Ist Canadian Army during the war, Will leave for Japan on Monday, according to an announcement by the Prime Minister (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King). The visit is intended to emphasise Canada’s interest in the revival of trade in the Far East, and to gain information to assist Canada to formulate its views on the Japanese peace settlement. The Canadian delegation which will accompany General Crerar will include Mr Roland Bock, president of the Canadian Lumbermen’s Association.
