Mr Roger B. Hollinrake, Auckland, has recently been elected, upon the results of an open examination, to the Bernard Hale Organ Scholarship at Peterhouse, Cambridge, according to a message from London. Mr Hollinrake was educated at St. Peter’s School, Cambridge, and King’s College, Auckland. He will attend Cambridge University in October. Mr P. Plunket, of Lyttelton, was appointed by the Timaru Harbour Board yesterday to the position of chief engineer of the board’s dredge. Mr Plunket is at present employed by the Lyttelton Harbour Board. A presentation was made to Mr F. J. T. Grigg, who is leaving shortly for Wellington, by Mr T. M. Wright, on Thursday, on behalf of the Canterbury District Committee for Paint Investigation. Mr Grigg has been chairman of the committee since its inception. He will be replaced in that office by Mr O. J. Doidge (district railway engineer). Sympathy with Cr. A. G. Williams in the death of his brother, Mr F. C. H. Williams, was expressed by the Heathcote County Council last evening.
