The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 9 p.m., by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a weak but complex low pressure trough is moving slowly on to New Zealand. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate variable winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and cool, with occasional rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was fine and sunny, with a light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 47.7 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear with a moderate north-east wind. The barometer, steady, registered 29.84 inches (1010.5 millibars).
