Lady Eleanor, which races in the interests of R. A. Hartley, caught a chill when taken to Oamaru to race in June and had to be spelled. The Quite Sure mare is now back in work and she looks in splendid order. R. Hart has his Red Shadow filly looking well and she promises to develop into a useful performer. Hilda Scott and Sahara Queen are spelling at present and they will rejoin C. Isaacson’s team at the end Bf the month. In J. Purdon’s Team Honora’s Pet, which was trained in the early part of the season by K. ■ Tarrant for Mr J. Hands, is now being trained at Addington by J. Purdon for Mrs M. Brown. A three-year-old filly, Honora’s Pet is by a useful trotter in Desmond’s Pride from Honora Bingen, by Nelson Bingen from a hack mare. Making Good Progress G. Cameron is well pleased with the progress being made by Velvet Brown, a rising two-year-old filly, which was purchased at the yearling sales for 306 guineas by Mr H. Harman. Wellington. Velvet Brown, which was bred by Mrs W. P. Kelly, Winchmore, is by The'Laurel Hall horse, Dillon Hall, from Godetia, by Gold Bell from Flowerbell, by Marion Wilkes from Bellflower. The trotter, Royal Dale, which is also owned by Mr Harman, is back in work in Cameron’s team and she should be at her best for the National meeting next month. Promising Youngsters Promising youngsters in A. McLellan’s team at Invercargill include a two-year-old filly by Real Gold from Lustrous, which is by Rey de Oro from Tangerine, the dam of Sunworshipper, and a filly by Real Gold from Peggie Chimes, a Four Chimes mare, which left Pontoon to Adioo Guy. Real Gold, which sired the youngsters, was brad by McLellan and is by Gold Bell from Cottage Girl. A Useful Trotter Noble Star, which lost form after securing a win and six minor placings in his first eight starts for the season, is back in work in E, Kennerley’s team at Te Awamutu. A six-year-old gelding by Nobleman from Marble Step. Noble Star can trot fast when bn his best behaviour, and he should do well next season. Highland Lodge

Mrs K. Bare has purchased a property at Weedons, where she intends to establish a stud farm which will be known as Highland Lodge. Mrs Bare’s brood mares include Cisterna, which is in foal to Grattan Loyal, and Queen Ayesha, which is m foal to U. Scott. By Frank Worthy from Royal Empress, Queen Ayesha was bred by Mrs Bare. To U. Scott, Queen Ayesha has already left the speedy Highland Fling, which showed outstanding form this season. At Rakaia
