ROYAL PARTY'S VISIT TO HOME FLEET
SUBMARINE “SNORT” SEEN IN OPERATION (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, July 23. Their Majesties, the Princesses, and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten saw a submarine “snort” for the first time during their visit to the Home Fleet in the Firth of Clyde. The submarine Tiptoe put on a performance for them, diving on its main engine and “breathing” through its “snort”—a long funnel device invented during the war.
