VISIT OF BIG BRITISH CARGO AIRCRAFT.—A Bristol Freighter, one of Britain’s first post-war cargo aircraft, has arrived in New Zealand on a demonstration tour after a leisurely trip through the Middle East, India, and Australia. The plane, which is named the Merchant Venturer, is expected at Harewood next Friday, and it will be one of the attractions at a "Made in Britain” field day arranged by the Canterbury Aero Club for Sunday, August 3. These photographs were taken when the aircraft arrived at Whenuapai, Auckland, on Wednesday. The members of the crew shown in the first photograph are, from left: Mr F. E. Sander, of Qantas Empire Airways (navigation officer); Mr J. Lamsdale, of the Marconi Corporation (radio officer); Captain R. Ellison (commander); Mr M. F. Elliott, of the Bristol Aeroplane Company; Mr A. E. Davis and Mr W. Burns (engineers).
