Britain Short of Sodium.—A shortage of sodium, a chemical needed in wool-combing, is threatening the employment of thousands of Workers in Yorkshire, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The Wool-combing Employers’ Federation says that unless the supply, which is dependent on coal production, improves, 12,000 employees face an almost immediate cut to two shifts a week.—London, July 23.
