EGG SUPPLIES
Sir, —Now the price of eggs is dropping, you publish the new rates in your ne spaper and in every case your notice says that the new prices operate as from the following Monday. Last Friday I sold eggs to a country depot and I was paid 2d a dozen less than ruling rates. Notice was given in your issue of Saturday that prices would be reduced as from Monday, July 141 Could you inform me why that depot has the right to reduce its price before the set date If the depot’s eggs are sold to the Central Floor, should not the depot be paid full price for all eggs bought up to the Friday preceding the date announced for the reduction to operate, or does the producer have to be penalised because he is not able to deliver direct to the Central Floor? —Yours, etc., INTERESTED. July 14, 1947. [This letter was referred to Mr J. A. Manton, Christchurch manager for the Internal Marketing Division, who said he had no reply to make to an anonymous correspondent.]
