ALICE IN FERRYLAND
Sir, —There was once a small girl called Red Riding Hood. In that fairy tale were characters which could be well applied to the present situation—the M.E.D. taking the part of the wolf. In other words, instead of giving the people electricity at the lowest possible price, it accumulated many hundreds of thousands of pounds by overcharging, so much so that the State (in the role of the woodman) had to come to the rescue of Red Riding Hood —Yours, etc., E. E. C. HYDE. 1 July 23, 1947.
