PAINLESS RABBIT TRAP

Sir, —“A.S.P.” would do better if he or she advocated the abolition of the phosphorised pollard poison, which is No. 1 as far as cruelty is concerned. The painless trap illustrated would be of use only in the back-country. Who wants to eat dead rabbits, for that is what it means? The trap would never be any use for opossums, as it would damage the fur. Would ‘‘A.S.P/’ do away with rabbit freezing works and collecting trucks, and, needless to say. great quantities of meat? In any case, the trap will have to be proved successful first. As far as I can see, it is good only for burrows.—Yours, etc., JOHN R. BUCK. Darfield, July 22. 1947.
