PRICE TRIBUNAL INQUIRY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 23. The Price Tribunal was following the normal practice of obtaining complete, reliable, and up-to-date information about the financial position of various persons and industries, said the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr A. H. Nordmeyer) to-day. This was done in the normal course of the Price Tribunal’s work from time to time and m the present instance opportunity was being taken of obtaining a survey of a cross-section of industry to assist ihe Tribunal in arriving at a conclusion if the Arbitration Court advanced the wages or workers in industry. The Price Tribunal is invoking its powers under war-time regulations to require companies to furnish information about their financial position for what are called "surveys of industry.” They are required to supply information within 14 days. They are being asked to submit copies of trading accounts, profit and loss accounts, and balance-sheets for the financial years ended in 1939 and 1940 and for the last two years.
