POWER SAVING

NO RISE IN LAKE LEVEL In the catchment areas from which water is drawn for electric power in Canterbury, the weather yesterday was calm and frosty and no improvement in storage was recorded. Lake Colelidge, at 1664.5 feet, remained at the same level as on Monday. The flow at Waitaki yesterday had drooped to 5300 cusecs, compared with 5500 cusecs the previous day. The saving of power in the Municipal Electricity Department’s original area on Monday was 15.2 per cent, and in the extended area 14.2 per cent.

KARAPIRO COSTING £4,350,000
