TRIBUTE TO CROWD’S BEHAVIOUR
“On behalf of the police department I wish to say that the Christchurch reception to Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery was an unqualified success,” said the Superintendent of Police (Mr H. Scott) last evening. “I desire to record my sincere appreciation of the co-operation of the public in general and the children in particulai and for their exemplary behaviour throughout the day. On this occasion the people of Christchurch demonstrated beyond any doubt that they know how to receive distinguished visitors.”
