The Mayor of Wellington (Mr W. Appleton) announced yesterday that he would contest the mayoralty at the local body elections in November.— (P.A.)
Mr A. G. Gamble, assistant chief inspector for the Price Tribunal in Christchurch, will relinquish his position at the end of this week, to go into business on his own account. Mr John Farrell, representing Messrs J. and N. Tait, arrived in Christchurch yesterday to complete arrangements for the concerts of John Charles Thomas.
