JOURNALISM COMPETITION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. Awards in the James Cowan Memorial Prize for good journalism conducted by the New Zealand Journalists’ Association are: First—L. W. Riley, “Evening Post,” Wellington, for his coverage of the police pursuit and capture of the bank jobbers at Bulls. Published March 27, 1946. Second—Miss Elizabeth Parsons, “Christchurch Star-Sun,” for a series of articles on' the coal-mining industry on the West Coast. Published May and June, 1946. Special mention was also made of a series of articles on Maori activities and customs written by F. Molesworth as mid-north representative of the “Northern Advocate.” There were 10 entries. •
