MODERATE TURNOVER There was a moderate turnover on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. The bulk of the dealings were in Government stock, industrials, and chair stores Price movements were irregular, the outstanding feature being the drop of 5s in the price of Bank of New South Wales shares, which changed hands at £39. Metiers (N.Z.), which are sefldom dealt in, changed hands at 28s, and closed with unsupported sellers at 295. Canterbury Frozen Meat were Is down at £l5 19s, and New Zealand Breweries moved up 3d to 58s on a turnover of 500 shares.

Snowy River Return.—lOloz bullion from 37,000 yards in 206 hours. Associated Gold Dredges For the week ended July 19. the company’s dredges recovered 122 ounces from 75,697 yards in 3221 dredging hours. Higher Price for Tallow.—With a view to offering greater inducement for the saving of tallow to ensure increased shipments to the United Kingdom, where there is a big and urgent demand for fats, the purchase price of tallow has been increased on an average about £l7 a ton.
