ACCIDENTS

CHILD BURNED TO DEATH (PA.) WHANGAREI, July 21. Bruce Hansen, aged two years, a son of Mr J. Hansen, a taxi-driver, of Kaitaia, was burned to death vesterday. He and others were playing in a hay shed after breakfast. At 9 o’clock two of the children, aged three and four, ran to their father to say the hay shed was on fire and Bruce Hansen was inside. Heat and smoke prevented the child’s rescue. The shed was destroyed.

SAWMILL WORKER DIES OF INJURIES

(P.A.) WHANGAREI, July 21. James Norris, aged 29, married, a farmer, of Poroti, while working at a sawmill at Maungatapere, had his clothing caught in a revolving shaft. He suffered severe injuries to his . scalp and fractured his spine. He I died in the Whangarei Hospital early i yesterday afternoon.
