An anticyclone in the Tasman Sea extends on to the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: light, variable winds. Weather fine but cold. Further outlook: mainly fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light, variable winds. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures moderate. Further outlook: rain developing in the south. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was sunny but cool, with a southerly breeze. At 1 a.m. this morning the sky was clear and there was a light breeze from the north-east.
