CARDINAL GRIFFIN’S ADDRESS

Sir,—With malice toward none, let me point out, in conclusion, that while discrimination is officially placed against other religions in Spain and Argentina, it is not surprising that events have backfired in Jugoslavia. Enforced conversion never makes a good Catholic. Tito, himself'of Catholic upbringing, clearly warned certain fascist-minded bishops: “I do not wish it to be considered as a threat, but it is my duty to warn that there are laws which ferbid the sowing of chauvinism and dissension, endangering the achievements of our great liberation struggle, which must be respected by all who wish their country well.”— Yours, etc., A CATHOLIC OBSERVER. July 20. 1947.
