NATIONAL PARKS

Sir, —In an otherwise excellent report of the meeting of the Bird and Forest Protection Society of Christchurch no mention was made of the valuable information contributed by Mr McCaskill in his talk on the national parks of America, with photographic slides taken by himself. He showed how they have become an asset rather than a liability. In view of the urgent appeal to the GovernorGeneral to stop the cutting of kauri in the Waipoua Forest Reserve, and the desire that it shall become a national park, this would have interested many who are asked to sign the petition.— Yours, etc., E. M- HARVEY.
