SLAUGHTERMEN RETURN TO WORK
DUNEDIN ABATTOIR STRIKE (P.A.) DUNEDIN, June 18. After being on strike since Monday, 20 slaughtermen at the city abattoir returned to duty this morning. Tneir demand for ratification by the Wages Commissioner of an increase of 10s 2d a week has been shelved in the meantime, after advice from tne Minister of Labour (Mr A. Me Lagan) that he would not negotiate with the men in any circumstances while tney were on strike. . It is expected that the wage advance. whicn is retrospective to AP ru 1, will be paid to the men shortly.
