RAIN CURTAILS PLAY (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON June 17. Rain curtailed all county cricket today and most matches in the round which ended to-day were drawn. Scores: — Yorkshire: first innings, 187 (Watson 77, Young four for 43, Robins four for 37); second innings, four for 144 (Button 57). Middlesex: first innings, two for 350 declared (Brown 130, Robinson 108). The match was drawn. Kent; first innings 175; second innings 133 (Walsh five for 61, Jackson five for 18). Leicester: first innings 156 (Wright seven for 65); second innings, 100 (Wright five for 42, Dovey five for 39). Kent won by 52 runs. Gloucester: first innings 153 (Muncer five for 51); second innings five for 152 declared. Glamorgan: first innings, 90 (Goddard six for 40, Cook four for 38); second innings, seven for 139 (Dyson not out 79). The match was drawn. Warwick: first innings. 357 (Ord 75, Pritchard 81, Jepson six for 105). Notts: first innings, four for 358 (Hardstaff 130, Keeton 102). The match was drawn. American Officer Acquitted.—A general court-martial to-day acquitted Lieutenant-Commander Edward Little of charges that he mistreated American naval and marine personnel while serving as a mess officer and company commander in a Japanese prison camp. Lieutenant-Commander Little declined to comment on the trial, which was held secretly at his request.—Washing- , ton, June 17. |
