The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: ’ Situation: an anti-cyclone is centrefl north-east of New Zealand, and a weak anti-cyclone south of the South Island. A depression is south of Tasmania. Forecast to 5 p.nv: light to moderate variable winds, weather fair and mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate west to north-west winds. Weather cloudy .and mild. Some showers still likely. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and mild, with a north-west wind in the morning. The sky was partially overcast until nightfall, when it cleared. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was clear and there was a light north-east wind. The barometer, at 29.78 inches (1008.5 millibars), was falling.
