Guilty on Serious Charge.—After a hearing extending over the greater part of two days, a jury in the Supreme Court in Wellington found Frank John Peers, a motor mechanic, 39, guilty of a charge of procuring the offence of unlawful carnal knowledge. Charges of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and of unlawful carnal knowledge were also \ preferred, but Mr Justice Cornish warned' the jury that it would be unwise to dpnvict on the evidence of accomplices urMess such evidence was corroborated. Theft prisoner was remanded for sentence on tme charge of procuring. Mr W. H. Cunningham conducted the prosecution and Mr G. C. Kent appeared for accused whb pleaded not guilty to all cfcarges.-(P.A.)
