COLLECTION OF USED SACKS
CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS . SCHEME A scheme for the collection of used sacks on farms in Canterbury will be discussed at a conference between the Jute Emergency Committee set up by the Government, and users of sacks m Christchurch to-day. The proposal is that collection depots should be established in country towns, and farmers should leave their sacks there to be collected by stock and station firms ■ . ute Emergency Committee was established to consider ways and means of dealing with the shortage of .jute in New Zealand caused by India limiting supplies for all purposes. The Acting Director-General of Agriculture (Mr R. B. Tennent) is chairman of the committee, and the other members of the committee are the Commissioner of Supply (Mr P. B. Marshall), the Wheat and Flour Controller (Mr R. McPherson) and Mr W. Satterthwaite, of the textile division of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd.
