STOCK EXCHANGES GOVERNMENT STOCK AGAIN IN DEMAND The demand for Government inscribed stock continued on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, and sales were made in four issues; £llOO of 3 per cent, inscribed stock, maturing 1/8/51-54, was sold at £lOO 10s, showing a rise of 7s 6d on the last sale price; the 3 per cent, issue, maturing 15/5/53-56, rose sharply to sales at £lOl ss, showing a rise of 12s 6d; 3 per cent, bonds, maturing 15/4/60-63, were reported at £loo—this showed no change in comparison with the previous sale of stock; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, maturing 15/6/32-55, showed a rise of 7s 6d on reported business at £lO5 7s 6d. Bank of New South Wales shares rose 5s when four shares changed hands at £4l 10s. Goldsbrough. Mort shares were Is higher on reported business at 38s 3d. Kaiapoi Woollen ordinary shares had further business at 30s. A.C.I. shares had a reported sale at 62s 6d, which was 2s more than the last sale on May 2. Electrolytic Zinc ordinary shares had their first business since March, with reported sales at 68s and 67s 9d. The former price was Is 6d lower. A sale of Macduffs preference shares was reported at 28s 6d, a rise of 6d. United Provisions shares had sales at 19s 9d, and reported business at 19s lOld; the latter sale showed a rise of 51d. Woolworths. Ltd., rights, eased 3d, when 66 were sold at 19s 6d. In the unlisted section, Korma Textiles preference shares were-sold at 27s 2d, a rise of 5d on the last business.
