RED CROSS SUB CENTRE
ANNUAL MEETING AT NEW BRIGHTON Lady Wigram, Mrs J. G. L. Vernon, and Miss Rush were the guest speakers at the annual meeting of the New Brighton sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. A vice-president (Mrs A. Florence) presided. It was reported that much useful work had been done during the year. Interest in the plastic surgical unit had been maintained. Three hundred garments had been sent overseas. The sum of £2O assessment and a donation of £lO had been paid into the Red Cross centre: , Members had collected fat and food for Britain, had made sewn and knitted.' garments, visited patients in hospital; and assisted regularly at the depot in the Square. They had also helped with various street collections. > Lady Wigrain asked members to continue making clothing, -for overseas children of school age. The peed was greater how than at the time the war ended, she said. The , resignation of the president (Mrs W. 1 Glasgow), who has held the position for eight years, -was received with regret. , The following officers were elected: president, Mrs A. Florence; vice-presi-dents, ■ Mesdames W, TJ Glasgow, A. E. Marriott, and F. J. S. Margetts; honorary secretary, Mrs F. W. Moore; honorary treasurer, Mrs K S. Chambers; committee. Mesdames S. Cook, P. Trolove, M. Napper. E. Ellis, F. Mitchell, R. Parker, McCall, S. Queree, F. W. Cullimore, R. Barrett, L. Lawrence, L. Hardie, E. J. Hill, and L. Scrimshaw.
