PHYSICAL WELFARE GRANTS
Since the first grant through the physical welfare branch of tne Department of Internal Affairs was made m the North Canterbury area, 34 clubs and organisations have benefited by £3470. said Mr W. N. McDonald, newly-elected president of the Canterbury Council of Sport, yesterday. Grants to individual clubs varied from £lO to £4OO. Mr McDonald said that these grants were made on a subsidy basis of £1 for £2 on money raised by the organisations who, in the first instance, were required to apply direct to the Minister of Internal Affairs for assistance.
