SEARCH FOR LOST CHILD

INFANT WANDERS FROM HOME IN SHIRLEY Intensive searching by police and by volunteers throughout yesterday failed to find any trace of an 18months old child, Patrick Anthony Fraher, of 58 Averill street, Shirley who went missing at 10 o’clock ye£ terday morning. As soon as his disappearance was noted, the child’s mother telephoned the police, and as the day wore on without the child being found, the police search party was enlarged. But by nightfall the child was still missing, and broadcasts and every other known means of seeking his whereabouts had failed. The description of the child, who was a favourite in the neighbourhood, is that he was of fresh complexion, with blue eyes. He wore a grey flannel play suit, green jersey, and gumboots. The only clue that was received by the Central Police Station up to last night came early in the day when a woman telephoned to say that she had seen a boy answering to the child’s description, but he had since disappeared. ' The search for the child was intensified in the late afternoon, but when darkness fell and the task of the searchers became more difficult there was still no report. The search was cofitinued during the night, but at 2 a.m. he had not been found.
