The secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Labour (Mr K. McL. Baxter) said that notice of Mr Monteith's resignation, which had been sent to the Minister of Labour (Mr
A. McLagan), had been communicated also to the executive of the federation., Mr Baxter said the Labour Department would in due course call for nominations to fill the vacancy from trade unions registered under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. The department would, on receipt of nominations. conduct a ballot to elect Mr Monteith’s successor. Mr Monteith has been workers’ representative on the Court since 1926.
